Jinja Club has a rich history that spans over a century. The club was established in 1912 by a group of British expatriates who were living and working in Jinja, Uganda. At the time, golf was a popular sport among the British and they decided to build a golf course to enjoy the game in their new home.

The first golf course at Jinja Golf Club was a nine-hole layout that was built on the banks of the River Nile. The course was designed by a British expatriate named John H. R. Rose, who used the natural terrain and vegetation to create a challenging and scenic layout. The course was an instant success and became a popular destination for golfers in East Africa.

Over the years, Jinja Golf Club continued to grow and develop. In 1931, the club acquired an additional 44 acres of land to expand the course to 18 holes. The new course was designed by the famous golf course architect, Tom Simpson, who was responsible for several of the most famous golf courses in Europe. Simpson’s design incorporated the natural terrain and vegetation of the site, and he added several water hazards and bunkers to create a challenging and strategic layout.
